Dabney Hill

Dabney Hill is a self-sustaining African American community and an outstanding example of a Texas Freedom Colony that still has an active, living community and whose historic vernacular landscape retains a legible community core despite suffering severe storm damage in recent years.

The two photos depict Dabney Hill in 1995, and again in 2017. The changes in the landscape are very visible and have made the surrounding historic sites in danger of being removed for further neighborhood expansion.
